Dr. Robyn Pashby is a licensed clinical health psychologist who specializes in the psychological and behavioral treatment of obesity, binge eating disorder, and other chronic health conditions. In her clinical work, Dr. Pashby has been studying the biological and psychological impact of stress on behavior and on weight for over a decade. She has worked with hundreds of clients in both individual and group sessions to manage anxiety, improve sleep, lose weight, and generally feel healthier. Dr. Pashby has authored or co-authored numerous publications including peer-reviewed scientific articles, book chapters, and blog posts. She has extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Interpersonal Psychotherapy. She lives in Washington DC with her husband and daughter and their dog. Dr. Kelly Forys Donahue is a clinical health psychologist and change coach in practice for over 12 years specializing in the treatment of anxiety, depression, obesity, and chronic health conditions. She is passionate about teaching and empowering others to make small changes in their thinking and behaviors to create big improvements in their health and life. Her book Everyday Self-Care: Your Proven, Holistic Guide to Feeling Better outlines her best strategies for improving health. She enjoys working with clients in an individual and group setting in person and virtually via telephone and video conference. Dr. Donahue lives in Frederick, MD with her husband and son. Can I use this course instead of therapy?
We are licensed psychologists who have been treating clients with anxiety for decades, but this course is not therapy. We are not entering into a therapeutic relationship. While this course is not a substitute for individual or group therapy, we are giving you access to the same tools we use with our clients for a mere fraction of the price. These tools can help you feel better, but we are not offering you medical advice and encourage you to talk to your doctor if your symptoms worsen or you have thoughts of self-harm.
Why is this course not therapy?
Because the HCS does not provide a one-to-one assessment of what’s holding you back nor provide individualized focus or intervention as needed during the therapist-client relationship. We do not make a diagnosis, formulate a treatment plan or hold individual sessions, with an individual treatment or coaching plan that is tweaked over the course of time. You make your own selection of courses that make sense for your own objectives. If you tell us that you feel the need for more intensive, direct support in addressing any barriers you are facing, we will assist you in accessing appropriate resources and may make recommendations to you for a therapeutic relationship.

We know you may have tried different strategies to manage your stress in the past.
